"Unorthodox"

The Core Values of Progressive Christianity↗
A broad summary that I like!
Background
I was raised non-denominational evangelical. The "saved by grace, through faith" and "we use a rock band during worship!" kind that is ultimately conservative, homophobic, and serious about the rapture. After deconstructing my beliefs (on biblical interpretation, science/reason, etc...) and coming to terms with being queer, my faith evolved.
Beliefs
I have a strong belief in God, but I am also comfortable with doubt. I lean heavily towards panentheism and process theology (most importantly, that God is deeply intertwined with everything but doesn't have the power to control everything). I'm a follower of Christ, but my nuanced view of Jesus's divinity is probably considered heretical by a lot of people. I don't believe in hell, at least as an eternal place... If the afterlife exists, hell is probably the (temporary) purification of truly evil souls (plus, it's not presented in the Bible in the way most think it is). I generally don't believe in biblical inerrancy/literalism, but instead recognize the bible's (good and bad) historical and poetic contexts.
My personal faith values inclusion, social justice, healthy sex positivity, common sense/reason, and love for others. I chose to be confirmed in an Anglo-Catholic Episcopal church, but I also heavily identify with liberal Quakerism.
Pluralism
I really love interfaith dialogue and community. I value religious diversity (including non-belief), and I love learning about other beliefs and philosophies. However, I don't support using your beliefs as an excuse to be an asshole.
Random Thoughts...

  • The Bible was written by (imperfect) humans who had a different worldview than we have today when it comes to science, culture, and scripture.

  • Christians need to unlearn the antisemitism that permeates our texts and history.

  • The creeds should be seen as summaries of prevailing church doctrines that connect us to Christians past and present, not as a litmus test for belonging or "correct" belief. Like scripture they are not inerrant.

  • Since we are not God, we can't know everything about God, and God is probably on a plane of time/existence that we can't really understand.

  • God doesn't have a specific gender and can be referred to with any pronouns.

  • God instigated evolution, and we are meant to grow and change and be diverse.

  • God is a loving and patient teacher who helps us to the best of their abilities in a given situation.

  • If the afterlife exists, hell is a temporary state of cleansing/growth, and all will eventually be at peace with God.

  • I don't believe that "Jesus took our punishment," but rather "Jesus was the personified word of God" who was sent to make a positive impact with his teachings (God forgave us from the beginning).

  • Jesus is divine (though I go back and forth a lot on the specifics of that and the truthfulness of the recorded miracles) but I see him more as a human who had perfect synergy with God "The Father" AND who God planned to work through as "the Word of God."

  • Loving others (and yourself!) matters more than believing "correct" things about God.

  • "Original sin" is the ignorance and arrogance in human nature that we have the potential to grow out of more and more over time.

  • We can't necessarily see the bigger picture in the way that God can because we are humans with natural limitations.

  • Faith needs doubt in order to sustain it.
